does anyone find it interesting that the english version and the korean version’s lyrics are slightly different?

more interesting than that—how they are different?

the korean version is a song with lyrics for the boys. a part of the lyrics captures this when they sing, “너의 집념을 보여줘 지구를 좀 흔들어줘 모두가 널 볼수있게. 역사는 새롭게 쓰여지게 될걸? 주인공은 바로 너! 바로 너! (Show me your motivation, shake up the world so that everyone can see you. history will be rewritten and the main character is you! is you!)”

the english version is a song about themselves and how hot they are. they sing, “Soon as I step on the scene, I know that they’ll be watching me. Imma be the hottest in this spot. There ain’t no stopping me… I’m gonna make history.”

okay. maybe i’m being a bit paranoid.
don’t get me wrong. i like the korean lyrics. it’s about time the boys get a bit more encouragement about tackling life (re: “why men are in trouble” article).

it’s just also interesting that their past hits have been all about feeding the male ego and hunger for gentle and little girls, non-threatening and sweet. which can be okay. it’s their niche.

but if you’re going to be this confident modern woman singing about making history in one language, i just assumed you’d do the same in the other language too…

i’m just wondering why their korean version of their new release that seem to have semi-fierce lyrics is still catering towards this image of non-threatening, supportive, and perhaps even sweet little girlies (as opposed to 2ne1’s fierce lyrics).

maybe i’m asking for too much too fast from a major league kpop girl group. shrug.
